NSW Cup & Jersey Flegg: Round 17 Wrap

The Raiders returned from Auckland with a cruisy victory in the Jersey Flegg Cup, meanwhile the NSW Cup side fell to the Warriors in a tight loss on Saturday afternoon.

The Raiders NSW Cup team suffered a tight 24-18 loss to the New Zealand Warriors over the weekend. 

Raiders captain Hohepa Puru had a strong performance, leading his side with 45 tackles and 188 running metres for the match.

The Raiders were immediately on the back foot as the Warriors came out the blocks firing, holding a strong 16-8 lead at the half.

Both sides were forced to finish the game a player down, as two men from the Warriors and one from the Raiders were sent off for foul play.

Chevy Stewart claimed a late four-pointer but ran out of time to force a draw as the Warriors closed out the 24-18 victory.

The Raiders NSW Cup team look to bounce back next weekend with a home game coming up against the Newcastle Knights.

Jersey Flegg Cup

The Raiders Jersey Flegg team secured a comfortable 34-24 victory against New Zealand Warriors over the weekend.

The Raiders made their mark early, heading into sheds with a 16-6 halftime lead. 

Raiders Winger Jesse Limon was a standout across the park, coming away with a double to help his side to a 34-24 victory.

The Raiders now sit outright first on the ladder, with a 12-3 record after round 17 of the season.

Canberra will look to have the advantage over Newcastle, when they host Knights this Sunday at GIO Stadium.
