Palmerbet donate more than $16,000 to Canberra Hospital Foundation

Representatives from the Canberra Raiders and PalmerBet this week attended the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children in Canberra to present a $16,545 donation to those in need.

PalmerBet generously provided the Canberra Hospital Foundation (CHF) with branding rights on the Raiders NRL jerseys when playing in New Zealand, and through collaboration with the Raiders committed to raising money for sick kids in the ACT region.

The jerseys worn by the Raiders NRL team in their round three match against the Warriors in Christchurch earlier this season were signed and auctioned off, with proceeds going to the Canberra Hospital Foundation.

Leigh Dalton, Partnership Manager at PalmerBet, explained why PalmerBet chose to give their branding asset to a charity that would be used to help sick kids.

“PalmerBet are incredibly appreciative of the Canberra Raiders and the Canberra Hospital for having the opportunity to present the cheque to the children’s department today for $16,545,” Dalton said.

“Children’s hospitals are always PalmerBet’s preferred charity options given we are a young team with families of our own and understand how important children’s health is.

We know the funds will go towards making a difference for sick children in the shape of better care, improved facilities and as my daughter Lillian said today, I hope some of the money can go towards new toys for the playroom where we presented the cheque.”

Paediatrician Dr Blessy Charles was on hand to accept the proceeds on behalf of Canberra Hospital Foundation and the Women, Youth and Children team.

Jazmeen Payne, Canberra Hospital Foundation Director of Community Engagement, said that the funds raised will be very beneficial to the patients and families at the Centenary Hospital for Women Youth and Children.

"Canberra Hospital Foundation is incredibly grateful for the support and generosity of the Canberra Raiders and PalmerBet,” Payne said.

“The funds raised from the jerseys will greatly enhance our ability to continue to support the Centenary Hospital for Women Youth and Children, who provide exceptional care to children and their families.

This display of generosity highlights the power of community spirit and collective dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of our youngest patients.”

As a surprise offering during the cheque presentation, Raider #353 Emre Guler’s framed and signed playing jersey from the 2024 match in Christchurch against the Warriors was handed over by current Raiders NRLW stars Sophie Holyman and Grace Kemp.

Prominent Canberran’s Richard and Debbie Rolfe purchased the number 15 jersey through the auction and given their close association with both the Raiders and CHF, decided to ‘gift’ back to the charity as a keepsake.

The framed jersey will be used to raise additional funds on CAN GIVE DAY on September 26th.
