Canberra Raiders Cup: Round 16 Wrap

The Minor Premiership race is heating up after round 16 of the Blumers Lawyers Canberra Raiders Cup, with three teams vying for the top spot.

Queanbeyan Kangaroos 34 defeat Tuggeranong Bushrangers 12 

The Queanbeyan Kangaroos claimed a commanding 24 point win over the Tuggeranong Bushrangers on Saturday.

In an impressive team effort, the Roos saw six different players score, with Sam Williams leading from the front, crossing for a try and having success with the boot.

Bushrangers young gun Rhys Djerke was the standout across the park as he came away with a double in the contest.

As the season is coming to an end, Tuggeranong look to finish their year on a high note with two games left.

Meanwhile, Queanbeyan have moved to second place and will aim to maintain their position with two games remaining, as the Rams are close behind with equal points.

Yass Magpies 30 draw Belconnen United Sharks 30 

The Yass Magpies drew 30-all with the Belconnen United Sharks in a thriller at Walker Park. 

In the high scoring affair, both sides showcased their attacking prowess with Belconnen winger Connor Massen claiming two tries on the day.

Yass hooker Charlie Woodford's talents were on display, also securing a double and converting five from five conversions. 

As the season draws to a close, Yass will be determined to continue challenging their opponents, following strong results in their past three games.

Meanwhile, the Sharks will aim to fine-tune their game ahead of finals and build confidence with wins in their last two matches.

Gungahlin Bulls 30 defeat Goulburn City Bulldogs 14 

The Goulburn City Bulldogs fell short against the Gungahlin Bulls over the weekend at Workers Arena.

Bulls winger Jesse Croker was pivotal in securing the win, crossing for four tries, while fullback Charlie Henderson was another top performer, producing four try assists.

Goulburn winger Jesse Lacey proved important for his side, securing a double in the contest. 

Both the Bulls and Bulldogs are out of finals contention and look towards ending their year on a positive note.

Queanbeyan Blues 54 defeat West Belconnen Warriors 0

The Queanbeyan Blues secured a massive victory over the West Belconnen Warriors on home soil.

Blues players Dylan McLachlan, Allan Wratten and Daetyn Tanuvasa all crossed for try scoring doubles, contributing to their side’s big victory.

George Morseu continues to pave the way at the top of the competition total point scorers, crossing for a try and kicking six goals to increase his tally to 158 points for the season.

The Blues now sit outright first on the ladder, with an upcoming bye which may hurt their minor premiership chances.
