NSW Cup & Jersey Flegg: Round 23 Preview

The Canberra Raiders NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg teams are gearing up for an exciting quadruple header at home this Saturday, where they will face the Sea Eagles at GIO Stadium, Canberra.

NSW Cup

The Raiders NSW Cup side will be playing host to the Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles at 5:15pm, immediately after the NRL game on Saturday afternoon at GIO Stadium.

After falling short to the Bulldogs 22-12 at Belmore Sports Ground last weekend, the Raiders will be looking to bounce back and continue their fight for the top spot on the ladder.

On the other hand, the Sea Eagles will be coming into the competition well rested following a bye last round, after a heavy 58-6 defeat from the Roosters the week before.

The Raiders team list remains mainly unchanged following last week's clash against the Bulldogs, besides the inclusion of Josh Billing named at centre.

Prinston Esera (concussion) and Simi Sasagi (NRL) are out of this week’s lineup.

The Raiders currently sit second on the ladder with four games left of the season.

The last time these teams met was in round nine, where the Raiders claimed a dominant 42-22 win over the Sea Eagles at 4 Pines Park, Sydney.

Jersey Flegg

The Raiders Jersey Flegg side will kick off Saturday’s excitement, facing the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles at 10:30am before the NRLW clash at GIO Stadium.

Fresh off an impressive 36-18 victory over the Bulldogs last weekend at Hammondville Oval, the Raiders will be riding high on confidence as they prepare to take on Manly.

Manly will also be looking to carry over their winning momentum after securing a 28-22 win over the Kaiviti Silktails last weekend in Fiji.

There are a few changes to this week’s lineup, with Jordan Uta joining the forward pack in the place of Jaxon Lavender, with Jayden Ford named in the reserves.

The Raiders currently hold first place on the ladder and will look to hold onto this position with four games remaining.

The last time these teams met was in round nine, where the Raiders conceded a 24-16 defeat to Manly at 4 Pines Park, Sydney.
