The Yass Magpies have claimed the 2024 Minor Premiership after an incredible final round came down to for/against to lock in finals positions. 

Yass Magpies 20 defeat Woden Valley Rams 4

The Yass Magpies claimed a strong 16 point victory over the Woden Valley Rams at Boomanulla Oval on Saturday morning, securing their spot on top of the ladder.

The Magpies win included a standout performance from fullback Sophie Gaynor who crossed to score a double. On the other side, Rams skipper Lara Cosgrove was the only one to find the try line.

Woden will be desperate to bounce back next Saturday in a do-or-die clash against the Gungahlin Bulls.

The Yass Magpies strong efforts have pushed them into the Major Semi-Final next Sunday, where they will fight the Queanbeyan Blues for a spot in the 2024 Blumers Lawyers Katrina Fanning Shield Grand Final.

West Belconnen Warriors 38 defeat Belconnen United Sharks 8

The West Belconnen Warriors have closed out their season with a win after securing a strong 30 point victory over the Belconnen United Sharks at Raiders Belconnen.

The Warriors’ demanding win was assisted by an outstanding performance from fullback Jade Harding, who secured a hat-trick.

Warriors’ second-rower Chloe Cooper and lock Lily Bone were also instrumental in their big win, as they both crossed to score doubles.

Despite the loss, Sharks second-rower Isabella Piper showcased her determination, scoring two tries in the Belconnen derby.

Saturday’s results have placed the Warriors in fifth position, whereas the Sharks have finished in seventh.

Queanbeyan Blues 26 defeat Tuggeranong Bushrangers 20

The Queanbeyan Blues have secured their spot in the Major Semi-Final after a tight six point win over the Tuggeranong Bushrangers at Greenway Oval.  

The Blues victory included a strong kicking game from halfback Briony Frater, as well as tries from centres Tamika Murphy and Ashley Condon, aiding their side to victory.

Despite the defeat, Tuggeranong should be proud of their efforts to finish their season with a strong performance against the second-placed Blues.

The Blues will look to carry over this momentum as they prepare for a Grand Final Qualifier against the Yass Magpies this Sunday.

Goulburn City Bulldogs 26 defeat Bungendore Kangaroos 18

The Goulburn City Bulldogs have secured a 26-18 win over the Bungendore Kangaroos at Seears Workwear Oval.

Goulburn’s victory was buoyed by strong performances from hooker Olivia Howe, who crossed to score two tries.

The Roos defeat was not without determination, including a strong kicking game from lock Hollie Shepherd, who converted all three tries.

The Bulldogs will be pleased to have closed out their season with a win, finishing in sixth place on the ladder.
