Crookwell has kept their Blumers Lawyers George Tooke Shield league tag season alive while ending the Binalong Jersey Girls’ 2024 campaign.

Playing in their minor semi-final at Binalong Recreation Oval on Saturday, tries to Jayde Della and Annie Knight guided the She Devils to a 10-6 win over Binalong.

The victory sets up a big finish for the She Devils, who will now prepare for a preliminary final match against the Cootamundra Bullettes at Harden’s McLean Oval this coming Saturday.

In a replay of the 2023 prelim, which Cootamundra won 30-nil, Crookwell will be out to get some revenge on their rivals and win their way into the decider against Harden.

The two sides played a thrilling match in their qualifying final, which Cootamundra won 14-8.

The Bullettes will take some beating after they pushed Harden in their 6-nil major semi-final loss to the premiers on Saturday.

The Bullettes, who fell to Harden in last year’s decider, will be shooting for their second grand final appearance in a row and a drought-breaking GTS title.

Binalong win semi-final thriller

The Binalong Brahmans continued their Cinderella return to the Blumers Lawyers George Tooke Shield men’s tackle competition, defeating the Cootamundra Bulldogs 17-16 in their minor semi-final at Binalong Recreation Oval on Saturday.

Captain/coach Chris Rawlinson proved the difference on the day, with the club stalwart scoring 11 of his side’s points on the way to crossing for a try and kicking three conversions before knocking over the game-winning field goal.

Either side was in a position to win in a match dictated by the typical ebbs and flows of any rugby league match.

Still, Binalong progressed to the preliminary final while breaking the hearts of Cootamundra supporters and players alike.

Binalong has now earned the right to play arch-rivals Harden in Saturday’s preliminary final after the Hawk fell to Bungendore 19-4 in their major semi-final at Mick Sherd Oval.

In a massive match at McLean Oval, the winner will get the right to play the Tigers in next week’s Grand Final.
