The Yass Magpies have advanced to the Grand Final after defeating the Blues, who now face Gungahlin in the preliminary final, while Woden hang up the boots.

Gungahlin Bulls 22 defeat Woden Valley Rams 18 

The Gungahlin Bulls claimed a nail biting victory over the Woden Valley Rams on Saturday at Greenway Oval to claim a spot in the preliminary final.

In a back-and-forth contest, the Bulls showed grit and determination as they secured a second half comeback win.

The match in the balance in the dying minutes when Bulls prop Amelia Kiriui went into dummy half and scored to put the Bulls in-front, and ultimately secure victory. 

Ana-Ruta Vaana had a strong performance in a losing outfit, scoring two tries for the Rams.

While the Rams' season has concluded, they can take pride in their efforts and will undoubtedly aim to build on this year and be strong contenders again in 2025. 

The Gungahlin Bulls look ahead to a fast paced clash against the Queanbeyan Blues this weekend in hope to secure a spot in the 2024 Grand Final. 

Yass Magpies 24 defeat Queanbeyan Blues 8 

The Yass Magpies have booked their spot in this year’s Katrina Fanning Shield Grand Final after Sunday’s commanding 16 point victory over the Queanbeyan Blues.

Yass centre Roxy Horne was unstoppable in attack, securing a hat-trick and playing a pivotal role in the crucial victory.

The Blues now have a second chance to turn things around against the Bulls, who carry plenty of momentum into Sunday’s preliminary final.

Yass now look for revenge on last year’s Grand Final, after going down to West Belconnen. They will have the week off to prepare and await their opponent in this weekend’s do-or-die clash.
