NSW Cup & Jersey Flegg: Round 26 Wrap

The Raiders went down to the Roosters in both grades over the weekend as they look to turn things around ahead of the first round of finals.

Jersey Flegg Cup

The Canberra Raiders Jersey Flegg Cup team fell short 40-22 to the Sydney Roosters on Sunday afternoon.

Raiders winger Kane Rushton made his mark early, claiming a double to trail the Roosters 18-12 at the halftime break.

But it was all one-way traffic in the second half as the Roosters cruised to a strong 40-22 victory.

Canberra had plenty to overcome with some key injuries throughout the match but will appreciate the bye in week one of the finals.

The Raiders will await to see their opponent after finishing in the top spot for the 2024 regular season.

NSW Cup

The Canberra Raiders NSW Cup team were defeated 34-21 by the Sydney Roosters on Sunday afternoon.

In a disappointing second half, the Raiders missed out on a minor premiership berth after falling to the Roosters in Sydney.

Raiders second rower Noah Martin set the momentum early, securing a double to hold a 21-6 lead at halftime.

But the Roosters caught fire in the second half, scoring 28 unanswered points to take out the comeback victory.

Canberra will now prepare for round one of the finals with a clash against the Newtown Jets on Saturday afternoon at Leichhardt Oval.
