Congratulations to Dylan McLachlan of the Queanbeyan Blues for his selection at five-eighth in the 2024 Canberra Raiders Cup Team of the Year.

McLachlan had an incredible debut season in the Canberra Raiders Cup, highlighted by a Grand Final berth and receiving the 2024 Les McIntyre Medal.

The Wagga Wagga junior returned to Rugby League following a two-year stint in Union, joining his brother Jayden McLachlan and cousin Blake Murray at the Blues, ultimately looking to have fun playing footy.

He believes he plays his best footy when he’s having fun, which was evident in his performances this year.

Appointed captain by coach Jeremy Braun, McLachlan led the Blues to a Grand Final berth after a challenging 2023 season for the club, where they finished equal last.

His consistent performances throughout the season were key to the club’s 12-month turnaround, earning him the Les McIntyre Medal with just two more points than last year’s winner Sam Williams.

Despite wearing the number seven, McLachlan’s playing style is versatile across both halves’ positions, which earned him the Team of the Year five-eighth spot.

A dynamic running half and prolific try-scorer, he crossed the line 15 times in 17 games.

Although the Blues fell to the Roos in the Grand Final, McLachlan’s leadership leaves plenty to be excited about for 2025.
