Raiders and Monaro Lisa Fiaola Cup squads join forces at training

The Canberra Raiders and Monaro Lisa Fiaola Cup squads had the opportunity to train together last weekend as the teams prepare for their respective 2025 representative seasons.

The Raiders will enter a team in the Lisa Fiaola Cup (17s girls) for the first time in 2025, with the club extending its junior female pathway.

Saturday’s session with the Monaro squad was an opportunity for the best up and coming players in the region to come together.

Raiders NRLW coach Darrin Borthwick said the day was a success and he looks forward to extending these opportunities to the club's wider regions in the future.

“It’s important for our pathways that are relatively new in the female space, it’s growing and it’s growing rapidly,” Borthwick said.

“This is a really good start to show the young girls out there that this is a genuine pathway."

Borthwick said it was a good opportunity for both teams in the lead up to their upcoming trial matches before their respective seasons kick off in early 2025.

“They got the opportunity to train with our rep girls, it’s a really good indication that our area is really thriving at the moment with good young female players that are coming through."
