NSWRL releases draws for 2025 season

The NSWRL has released the draws today for its Major Competitions and Junior Representatives Competitions for 2025, with a record number of teams lining up across the state for the second consecutive season.

There are 177 teams featured across all competitions in 2025, which is eight more than the record that was established this year when 169 teams took part – the most teams in the organisation’s history, stretching back to the first game in 1908.

“Rugby League is flourishing in NSW and that is reflected in the number of teams we have competing in NSWRL Junior Representatives Competitions and NSWRL Major Competitions in 2025,” NSWRL Head of Competitions Yvette Downey said.

“The Knock-On Effect NSW Cup will welcome Manly Warringah Sea Eagles into the competition for the first time since 2016, while Rugby League powerhouse Penrith Panthers will join the Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership.

“The season is just around the corner now with our Junior Representatives Competitions kicking off in February and I am confident there will be just as many highlights to look forward to across all our competitions next year as the 2024 season provided.”

Other highlights for the 2025 season include:

  • the return of Illawarra’s Major Competition, the Harrigan Cup, which will feature six teams;
  • Canberra Raiders joining the metropolitan competition for the Westpac Lisa Fiaola Cup (Under 17s);
